International openness has always been a core part of the DNA at EICAR, the School of Cinema, which welcomes students from all over Europe and the world each year. EICAR is one of the institutions participating in the Erasmus+ program, offering students the opportunity to experience studying abroad as part of their academic journey.

Twenty years after Cédric Klapisch's film Pot Luck, the Erasmus+ program continues to be a unique opportunity for students eager to expand their horizons, providing financial support through scholarships for academic mobility projects within the European Union. These scholarships, which are allocated based on the type of mobility and the cost of living in the host country, range from €225 to €824 per month for students. Those enrolled in work-study programs can also benefit from Erasmus+.

Here’s what Lukas, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Filmmaking student at EICAR, had to say about his Erasmus+ exchange with RheinMain University (Germany):

"For me, the Erasmus+ program is a big boost in a career [...] it opens up a lot of opportunities."

"My advice? Be open, get to know people, go to events or places where you can meet other students."

This initiative offers students, starting from their second year of the Bachelor's program, the chance to explore new cultures, improve their language skills—particularly in English, which is essential in the fields of cinema and audiovisual—and enjoy a unique and enriching experience without taking a gap year or waiting until the end of their studies.
